Inner Peace

I remember that day when..

I noticed how much I enjoy listening to the Holly Quran being recited!

I must admit, the voice and speed of the reciter plays a very important role; listening to him, especially while i’m driving, gives me inner peace, free of thought, comfort, and hope.

I grew up in a Muslim world that keeps reminding me about the value of reciting the Holly Quran, but not until recently that i started to fully absorb its impacting miracle on my inner being.

I Wish You Happiness

I remember that day when..

We were celebrating our colleague, who has become our newest married man, over a friendly dinner..

While we were enjoying the lovely meal a topic of conversation started with a question…
What would you wish for the newly wedded couple?

One answer was contentment,  another was respect, and another was good health…

Yet, my answer was simple… Happiness!

Without happiness,  you will not be able to enjoy ur good health, you will not be able to appreciate the respect you have for one another, and finally you will not reach a stage of content…

What do you guys think?   What would you wish a newly wedded couple?

Your Compass, Your Guide

I remember that day when..

I received this via email and I had to share it with you, especially for the ‘Star Wars’ fans like myself 🙂

“Your Compass, Your Guide” by Mary Morrissey
April 1, 2013

Do you remember in the early Star Wars movies the great wisdom that came through the character, Yoda? One of his wisdom teachings has stayed with me a long time. I want to offer it to you today:.

Yoda: …A Jedi’s strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight….

Luke: …Is the dark side stronger?.

Yoda: No, no, no. Quicker, easier, more seductive..

Luke: But how am I to know the good side from the bad?.

Yoda: You will know… when you are calm, at peace, passive. A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack…Already know you that which you need..

Luke: I don’t believe it..

Yoda: That is why you fail..

So, as you make decisions today, look for that peace and calm that is the confirmation that you are in tune with the Way of Things. Turn to that peace and calm as your compass and believe that it will guide you..

May the Force Be With You,.

Another Person Spreading Positivity

I remember that day when..

I was happy and impressed with such a positive campaign!

As i was surfing through the many blogs i enjoy, i came across this post from a fellow blogger named ‘Surprise&More’ as this post introduced a new campaign being launched in Kuwait which aims to spread happiness among people through 10 small and easy steps including:

. Writing your negative feelings on a balloon and allow it to fly away
. Rate your happiness (1-5) by picking up a lemon and make lemonade
. Hopscotch to the next station
. Wall of gratitude

16
and my favorite…

. Biting a pencil horizontally will automatically make a person smile! 😀

Many thanks to Mrs. Intisar Salem Al Sabah for this amazing campaign, and for Surprise&More for this post! 🙂

If I Had My Life to Live Over

I remember that day when…

I listed the things I would have wanted to do differently in my life..

As I was reading ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’ mentioned previously here, one of the short stories mentions the list of things that the interviewed elderly and terminally ill people have answered to; the things they wish they would have done more of, and that gave me the idea to write my own list as well.

Here it goes:

If I had my life to live over, I would

1. Loosen up and act silly
2. Laugh loudly and more often
3. Enjoy the moment rather than wait for the future
4. Give more compliments
5. Just do without over thinking
6. Listen more talk less

And finally

7. Break more rules 😉

But you know what, thank God I’m still young enough to start changing my habits…. any idea how i can challenge myself and do more of the above?

Have A Great Valentine’s Weekend everyone! xoxo

Advice from Warren Buffet!

I remember that day when…

I got this in an email and wanted to share with you!

“Warren Buffet is considered among the top 5 richest men in the world. His fortune is estimated at around 50 billion dollars, 99% of which he intends to give to charity after his death.

With such a record from a self made billionaire, it’s worth your time to get some of his advice!

On Reputation:

It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.

On his most basic rules:

Rule No.1: Never lose money. Rule No.2: Never forget rule No.1.

On sources of income:

Never count on a single income. Make investments to create additional sources of revenue.

On spending:

If you buy things you don’t need, you’ll soon have to sell things you do need.

On saving:

Don’t save what you have left after spending, but spend what you have left after saving.

On taking risks:

Never measure the deepness of a river with both legs.

On honesty:

Honesty is a very expensive thing, don’t expect it from cheap people.

On inheritance:

A rich man must leave his children enough to do anything, but not enough to do nothing.

On ideas:

You do things when the opportunities come along. I’ve had periods in my life when I’ve had a bundle of ideas come along, and I’ve had long dry spells. If I get an idea next week, I’ll do something. If not, I won’t do a damn thing.

On the trickle theory:

The rich are always going to say that, you know, just give us more money and we’ll go out and spend more and then it will all trickle down to the rest of you. But that has not worked the last 10 years, and I hope the American public is catching on.

On investing in the future:

Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.

On Habits:

Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.

On becoming rich:

I always knew I was going to be rich. I don’t think I ever doubted it for a minute.

On learning from betters:

It’s better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you’ll drift in that direction.

On price and value:

Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.

On taxes for the rich:

If anything, taxes for the lower and middle class and maybe even the upper middle class should even probably be cut further. But I think that people at the high end – people like myself – should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we’ve ever had it.

On challenges:

I don’t look to jump over 7-foot bars: I look around for 1-foot bars that I can step over.

On being rich:

Of the billionaires I have known, money just brings out the basic traits in them. If they were jerks before they had money, they are simply jerks with a billion dollars.

On risk:

Risk comes from not knowing what you’re doing.

On wall street:

Wall Street is the only place that people ride to in a Rolls Royce to get advice from those who take the subway.

On how he invests:

I never attempt to make money on the stock market. I buy on the assumption that they could close the market the next day and not reopen it for five years.

On hindsight:

In the business world, the rearview mirror is always clearer than the windshield.

On ponzi schemes:

Only when the tide goes out do you discover who’s been swimming naked.

On learning from history:

If past history was all there was to the game, the richest people would be librarians.

On healing the economy :

Economic medicine that was previously meted out by the cupful has recently been dispensed by the barrel. These once unthinkable dosages will almost certainly bring on unwelcome after-effects. Their precise nature is anyone’s guess, though one likely consequence is an onslaught of inflation.”

15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy

I remember that day when..

I read the following right after i wrote yesterday’s post! ;p

“Here is a list of 15 things which, if you give up on them, will make your life a lot easier and much, much happier. We hold on to so many things that cause us a great deal of pain, stress and suffering – and instead of letting them all go, instead of allowing ourselves to be stress free and happy – we cling on to them. Not anymore. Starting today we will give up on all those things that no longer serve us, and we will embrace change. Ready? Here we go:

1. Give up your need to always be right
2. Give up your need for control
3. Give up on blame
4. Give up your self-defeating self-talk
5. Give up your limiting beliefs
6. Give up complaining
7. Give up the luxury of criticism
8. Give up your need to impress others
9. Give up your resistance to change
10. Give up labels
11. Give up on your fears
12. Give up your excuses
13. Give up the past
14. Give up attachment
15. Give up living your life to other people’s expectations”

This is certainly easier said than done! But, it doesn’t hurt to try, and try again!

Make A Change

I remember that day when..

I received this by email and wanted to share it with you.

“You have a clean slate every day you wake up. You have a chance every single morning to make that change and be the person you want to be. You just have to decide to do it. Decide today’s the day. Say it; this is going to be my day.”

Brendon Burchard
